Henner Frankenfeld Filmmaker

Henner Frankenfeld is a Johannesburg-based cameraman, video journalist / videographer, documentary filmmaker and director, television producer, video editor and photojournalist.

He has worked in Sub-Saharan Africa for more than 30 years.

During this period, he has completed numerous assignments in 28 African countries, in Latin America and in the Middle East, focusing on topics such as international development, conservation & wildlife, protection of climate & biodiversity, news, business, arts & culture and science.

Henner has an excellent network of contacts across the African continent and ample experience of filming in even the most challenging of environments.

For the past decade, Henner has been working extensively for Deutsche Welle Television (DWTV), the foreign service of the German public broadcaster as a video journalist, cameraman, video editor and producer, amongst various others.

Prior to this he was the first cameraman for the Johannesburg bureau of Dutch public broadcaster NOS and also completed assignments for a number of leading international television stations.

As a seasoned filmmaker, he has directed several documentaries for the South African public broadcaster SABC and for international development organisations.

As a photojournalist, Henner has worked for most major international publications and NGOs. During his career he has trained more than 80 camera operators, production assistants and photographers and has won a number of awards.
